German catering company launches biodegradable crockery and cutlery
German catering company Fairgourmet recently launched a new line of environmentally-friendly and biodegradable plates and dishes. The line includes cups for hot and cold beverages, cutlery made of cellulose and plates made from sugar cane waste.
Fairgourmet is a subsidiary of Germany’s Leipziger Messe group and a member of Green Globe. The catering company focuses on using regional products and supporting the local economy. The new packaging concept reflects the company’s mission statement of ‘Growing in Balance’ and integrating best practices into the core of everyday corporate life.
It is the company’s goal to provide 100 percent sustainable catering for meetings and events, and they feel that this new packaging concept is an important step in this direction. Using biodegradable plates and dishes, which are made from renewable resources, is a good way to reduce the carbon footprint of any meeting or event.
