French hospitals offered funding towards procurement of eco-innovative food containers
INNOCAT partner Resah used their annual Journées de l’achat hospitalier on 6 and 7 December to promote the new Framework Agreement signed as part of the INNOCAT project.
The contract, which is open to all French hospitals, consists of two tenders. The first tender includes two lots: recyclable food containers including the recycling service, and biodegradable dishes. Both proposed solutions meet the EN13432 standard, meaning that after 12 weeks at least 90% of the product should be able to pass through a 2x2mm mesh. The second tender is for a consulting service to reorganise the logistics of sorting organic from non-organic waste.
These new solutions will help French hospitals to comply with national laws on biowaste, as well as simplifying waste separation by allowing the biodegradable container, compostable tableware and food waste to be thrown out together. The first procurers to buy off from this contract will benefit from co-financing of up to 20 percent through the INNOCAT project.
